Abilene city officials are joining with Coca-Cola to offer free rain barrels to Abilene citizens on October 12 at the Environmental Recycling Center at 2209 Oak Street. The event will start at 8 a.m. and last until all of the rain barrels have been given away. Rain barrels collect and store rainwater from rooftops that would otherwise be diverted to local storm drains or streams. Home owners can save thousands of gallons of water by using the water for irrigation. People must must show identification and Abilene water bill. For more information please call 325-734-3301.
